Last Day of WA Birding for a While

Yesterday Kay and I broke free of our rental home reconditioning work and headed for SoCal to visit Kay’s family and get some sunshine for much of Feb-March. Just 2 hours after finally got on the road at 11:30 AM I convinced Kay that we couldn’t pass Ridgefield NWR and a chance to add some FOY WA birds. We took a relatively quick detour and drove the River-S Unit drive. Despite missing Sandhill Crane, WBNU and RSHA I still managed 3 FOY birds, Great Egret, Tundra Swan and most surprisingly a fairly large flock of Tree Swallows flying over the fields. We continued our drive through most of Oregon and stayed the night in Rogue River at the Best Western, another Priceline bargain.
Hot tub last night, slept well, breadfast and a core workout and we are about to hit the road.
