This morning I went to the eBird hotspot UC Santa Barbara Lagoon, and learned when I got there that parking near there is a big problem. As best I could tell there are 2 spots that you can use hours other than 7:30 Am- 5 PM M-F if you have a Beach Access Permit ?? only. I stopped very briefly abotu 7;10 AM and left quickly. It looks like a long slough behind Campus Point. I had planned to go to Campus Point too but decided against the walk from Goleta Beach County Park (looked like a couple of miles)
Not too birdy there anyway this AM on a quick perusal. Next stop was Goleta Beach County Park. First I walked west from the restaurant to the end of the beach, then came back thru the parking lot. Noted Goleta Slough access from there so walked out beside the slough, and found 2 Black-crowned night heron, Savannah sparrows, and a big flock of Cliff swallows nesting under a bike/walking bridge.
Next really for exercise I walked the beach going east (feels like south) to where the water blocks going further and back. Finished by 9:45 and called it a morning.
